Hazel An AI compass for clarity, alignment, and aliveness.
Talk through what’s happening in your life. Hazel remembers what matters, helps you understand yourself more clearly, and connects you with people, communities, and opportunities aligned with where you want to go.
What feels most alive?
Understand yourself more clearly. Then do something with it.
Think through what matters
Bring Hazel a decision, a tension, a transition, or something you can't quite name yet.
Hazel asks questions you might not think to ask and helps you understand what is really happening.
Build understanding over time
Most AI conversations start from zero.
Hazel remembers what matters across conversations: the people in your life, the choices you're facing, the beliefs you're questioning, and the directions you keep returning to.
That memory allows Hazel to build a deeper understanding of your life over time rather than treating every conversation as an isolated moment.
Discover people, places, and opportunities that fit your direction
Hazel understands not only who you are now, but who you are becoming—and helps you discover people, communities, events, projects, places, and experiences aligned with that direction.
Not simply what is popular or nearby.
What may be genuinely relevant to you.
Meet people you might never meet otherwise
When two people are exploring similar questions, values, missions, or life directions—and both are open to connecting—Hazel can introduce them.
What feels most alive?
This is the question at the heart of Hazel.
Not:What should you want?
Not:What would look most impressive?
Not:What would make you more productive?
What feels most alive—and what might change if you listened?
Hazel helps you explore that question with greater honesty and attention, then find ways to act on what you discover.
Questions. Reflections. Invitations.
Every conversation with Hazel can combine three things:
Questions
that deepen your understanding.
Reflections
that connect what you're saying now with patterns across your life.
Invitations
that help you act on what you discover in the real world.

What a conversation can become
I keep thinking about leaving my job to build something of my own, but I don’t know whether that’s what I actually want.
What are you hoping leaving will give you that your current life doesn’t?
More freedom. But also people around me who care deeply about what they’re creating. I don’t really have that right now.
hen you talk about leaving, you sound less drawn to entrepreneurship itself than to autonomy and being around people who take their work seriously. That distinction may matter before you make the decision.
There’s a small dinner this Thursday for people building mission-driven technology. Based on what we’ve talked about over the past few weeks, I think you’d genuinely enjoy the conversations there. Would you like to learn more?
Hazel will not make your decisions for you.
It helps you understand them more clearly—and find real ways to explore what they could mean for your life.
The conversation is not the destination.
Most digital products are designed to keep you inside them.
Hazel is designed to help you return to your life with more clarity, agency, and attention.
A meaningful conversation with Hazel might lead you to close the app, call someone, create something, attend an event, join a community, meet someone aligned with your values, make a difficult choice, or simply notice your life more fully.
The measure of Hazel is not how long you spend talking to it. It is what becomes possible beyond the screen.
For the moments when you don’t know what to do.
Hazel can help when you are:
- circling an important decision
- entering a new chapter of work or life
- building something and losing sight of why
- feeling successful on paper but internally misaligned
- noticing the same tension appear repeatedly
- unsure whether something feels alive or merely impressive
- looking for people or communities who care about the same things you do
- sensing that something needs to change, but not knowing where to begin
Hazel will not make your decisions for you.
It is designed to strengthen your attention and agency, not replace them.
Try HazelWhy I’m building Hazel
I don’t think the future should be humans talking to AI all day.
I think AI should help us spend more time living, not more time looking at screens.
That is why I’m building Hazel.
I also write about aliveness, humane AI, orientation, and what I’m learning while building the product.
